Sound Design/Location Sound Recordist
Cameron Bennett is a Cinematic Arts Audio Production Major at George Fox University. He got into audio through his love of music and has taken up working on student films. In this project, Cameron did location sound as well as partnered with Sara Lange on the sound design. He said that "I had a great opportunity to work with an amazing crew and to refine my craft. I was excited with the complexity of this film and felt as though it delivered!"
Assistant Director/Producer
Matthew Hagen worked as the film's assistant director and co-producer as a first-year student at George Fox University. Highway to Hell presented various challenges, including location shooting and the use of a process trailer, but the crew adapted to every turn. Of working on the film he said, "I was excited and honored to work on such an ambitious project so early in my learning experience. I will take the countless valuable lessons from this shoot into my future endeavors."
Director of Photography
Reece Binder is an alum of George Fox University and worked as the Director of Photography for Highway to Hell. “I approached this project with the strange world in mind. The audience might find a few things that are a bit weird with the visuals. If people aren’t paying attention they’ll miss the hints we’ve hidden throughout the film, though some are pretty obvious.” - Reece Binder
Art Direction/Hair and Makeup
Alyssa Gilmore is the Artistic Director for Highway 9 and managed props, costumes, and practical effects and was responsible for building out the set. "I was inspired by the script and was excited to be a part of a project with some psychological depth. This project was an incredible opportunity to bring many artistic pieces together to support Jordan's vision."
Sound Design/Location Sound Recordist
Sara Lange is an alumni of George Fox University. She worked on Highway to Hell as a sound designer and mixer, alongside Cameron Bennett. Sara and Cameron worked together, gathering location sound. Towards the end, she and Cameron created the sound mix in post. Utilizing foley, ADR, and student-composed music to create a compelling sound mix for this film. “It was a chaotic, but thrilling experience working on this film with this crew. I couldn’t ask for a better setup.”
Writer and Recorder of "My Last Deed"
Owen TenBrook is an alumni, class of 2023. Owen did the music for Highway to Hell, which included the recording of an original song, “My Last Deed,” for use in the diegetic sound design of the film’s world.
He says his favorite times were discussing with Jordan ideas for the score of the film and recording vocals for his song with his close friend Andrew, who also did the guitar and bass for the song. "There was much fun to be had working on this film and I can only hope more people watch it, enjoy my song, and see how brilliant a writer and director Jordan is as an up and coming cinematic visionary!"
